Around here, we call these “momma hugs.”

Recently, I had the privilege of photographing a sweet mother-daughter session at the Tallgrass Prairie in Brecksville Reservation, just outside of Cleveland, Ohio.
This quiet stretch of prairie is tucked off the main trail and bursting with life — tall grasses swaying in the breeze, wildflowers in bloom, and pollinators drifting from stem to stem. It’s a hidden gem within the Cleveland Metroparks, and it set the perfect backdrop for a family session filled with authenticity, laughter, and tenderness.

Her daughter is a preteen — that delicate age where childhood still lingers, but independence is just beginning to bloom. These years are fleeting, and they carry a beauty all their own.
